Jeff Mosier has been entertaining audiences for over 30 years as a singer/songwriter, banjo player, and band leader. He currently leads and fronts The Mosier Brothers Band, based in Atlanta, Georgia.
In 1998, he formed what came to be his first nationally known brainchild, the self-described psychedelic hick-hop jamgrass band, Blueground Undergrass. Before forming BGUG in 1998, he primarily played banjo alongside brother Johnny Mosier in their band Good Medicine for nearly 23 years. Also with Johnny, Jeff co-hosted the popular bluegrass radio show “Born in a Barn” for 14 years on 89.3 FM WRFG in Atlanta. In the late 1980’s, Jeff got his first experience playing rock on the edge of the developing jam band scene as a founding member of Col. Bruce Hampton’s Aquarium Rescue Unit, the band that gave him the stage name “rev”. Jeff developed a unique and special ability to compose unique made to order “pick and jam” rock songs; combining bluegrass music with folk, trance, jazz and psychedelic rock. Showing these skills over time have made him a true veteran and cult icon in the Americana and jam band scenes. After many years of touring, Jeff and his brother Johnny decided to return to their roots and form The Mosier Brothers Band in 2009. The band’s debut album “On My Way” enjoys an eclectic radio following as it displays a more song-driven, yet still eclectic, side of the Mosiers’ music. Guest musicians include Allman Brothers Band bassist Oteil Burbridge, Col. Bruce Hampton, and Hammond B3 legend, Ike Stubblefield.
The Reverend has shared the stage with Leftover Salmon, Widespread Panic, Vassar Clements, Peter Rowan, and many more. In 1994 he toured with Phish and tutored them in the ways of bluegrass.
“Perhaps no guest artist has had as great an influence on the band’s music as the Rev. Jeff Mosier…” – The Phish Companion
